The homeowner felt uncomfortable about the situation and called 911 but the responding officers were unable to locate the boys.
Our GPSP officers spent some extra time in the area yesterday and in the late afternoon Lt. Iosty observed 3 teenage boys who were taking extra interest in some cars at the intersection of Delmar and Confederate.
He asked the boys to stop and talk with him. 2 of them complied but the third picked up a box and took off on his bike. A short distance down the road he dropped the box. It was a UPS delivery to a house on Confederate a block away.
The two said they lived nearby on Woodland Ave. and that was confirmed by their grandmother. They had been told not to hang around with the other boy because he causes lots of trouble in the neighborhood. He supposedly comes over here to visit his grandmother at Trestletree apartments.
Later Monday Lt. Iosty stopped to talk with another group of young teens who were wandering around at Delmar and Marion. They said they were visiting a relative who lived a block away on Marion.
Lt. Iosty reviewed the security video and none of the boys he talked with on Monday match the boys shown in that video. Lt. Iosty told all of them that the area is heavily patrolled by APD and by neighborhood security in unmarked cars, bike, and foot patrols.
Please call 911 if you see teenagers looking in to cars or going up on porches. Ask the UPS delivery driver to place packages in as secure a location as possible, or have them delivered to a work address. The peak time for the teenagers to be wandering on their way home is around 4:30 to 6 PM after the free swim closes.
