Meeting Notes:
Sorry for the long time in posting these notes from the last meeting. We only had a few people attend so it was quick, but here is what is going on with GPNW as far as organizing:
Currently we are in the organizing phase. On July 14 we will start moving beyond the organizing and to the implementation part; that is when the APD will be joining us for a meeting, so hope to see you there (see other posting and/or email). What I need for the people that have volunteered to be Block Captains is the following.
1 - Pick the street or block you are going to represent. It should involve no more that 10-12 houses. Anymore than that and experience has shown they fizzle out fast and end up not being very productive.
2 – Go to the neighbors that you are going to represent and explain that we are launching/revitalizing/formalizing a Neighborhood Watch in Grant Park. Give them the GPNW form to fill out and return, along with the Security Checklist for them to keep.
3 – From the list of neighbors that provided you information, assembly a Watch List with the names, number and addresses, and then…
4 – …get everyone to get together to hand out the name list (like hold a pot-luck bbq, a happy hour, morning coffee, etc) and introduce all your neighbors to one another…
5 – Finally plan attend the meeting July 14 with your neighbors!
