Their are many people in our community who are supportive of the Grange and the continued use and maintenance of our Grange Hall. Our membership has declined somewhat from our initial high (over a hundred members) because we have gone from seeking members to seeking Active Members. We tell folks that if they are not interested in taking part in our monthly meetings, workdays, event planning, etc and still want to support us, then to give us a donation rather than pay membership dues.

As donations we get to keep and use these monies for direct operation and maintenance of our Grange Hall. On the other hand, all but 7 dollars of our membership dues ($35 each) goes either to the State or National Grange.

A new option we may implement is to ask non-granger supporters to sponsor the membership of a local farmer. We lose the $28 that goes to the State and National Grange (which is not a complete loss : ), but gain a member we seriously want to attract.

Think that would work in your grange?
