The Nature & Play Series serves youth ages 6–16 through sports, arts, environmental education, and outdoor recreation in one of Detroit’s most unique parks. | | | | |  |  | Caring for the Land: A New Rain Garden Takes RootThis month community members, Trail Keepers Fellows, and Huron-Clinton Metroparks completed a brand new rain garden at Eliza Howell Park after several weeks of hands-on learning through our Master Rain Gardener Course. Rain gardens help capture stormwater, support native plants and pollinators, and improve the health of local ecosystems. More importantly, they give community members the tools to bring these practices back into their own neighborhoods.
|  | Our 2026 Trail Keepers Cohort Program is now well underway!Over the past several weeks, fellows have removed invasive species, learned ecological restoration techniques, explored bird conservation with community partners, installed the park's new rain garden, and continued caring for Eliza Howell Park while building green workforce skills. We'll continue introducing this year's fellows and sharing their work alongside the Trail Keepers Collective throughout the summer on our social channels. |

This sculpture collects, filters, and redirects rainwater into the surrounding landscape, supporting the park’s new rain garden.
