Greetings Transit SubCommers!

Next meeting:
The next monthly meeting will be held THIS WEEK Thursday at 4:00 PM at the downtown BATA Transfer Center. The address is 115 Hall St., Traverse City, MI, 49684.  Tentative agenda is attached.

The new transit committee page of the Grand Vision site is up and running. This will be the new central nervous system for our group. I'll continue to update the page over the next few weeks. This is where you can find meeting dates, agenda, resources, and other info. Here's the link - www.thegrandvision.org/transit

Grand Vision Event:
Don't forget tomorrow's Grand Vision Your Action event from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. There's a broadcast in each of the Grand Vision counties. Here's a link to more details - http://bit.ly/ozprt0

Also, consider attending the Northern Michigan Chamber Alliance's Transportation Summit on Monday, October 3 from 11:30 - 5:00. This will be a great opportunity to discuss transportation policy with statewide officials. This is a discussion about the state's future transportation priorities. More details here - http://bit.ly/q8n2Yd

Required reading (just kidding):
The City of Moscow, Idaho worked with regional stakeholders to plan an Intermodal Transit Center. If you're interested in learning about what's possible for this region, skim through the grant. It has the same elements that could be incorporated in a transfer centers in Interlochen or Acme. Here's their proposal - http://www.ci.moscow.id.us/storage/projects/itc/app.pdf

Lexington, KY is improving its bus shelters in a unique way. They are using art to create attractive, information filled stops. It's very similar to what we've been trying to work on up here. Here's the link - http://bit.ly/o5JA1W (thanks Mary Ellen)

See you Thursday!

James
