Here is an update on the Hamptons tournament. So far we have squads in various levels of formation from the Geezers, Fairfield, Conn., Chappaqua, NY, Toronto and interest from some Surly and Michigan players. We would love to have representation from our loyal cohorts from Maryland, Brooklyn, Philly, DC, Pelham, NY and Moscow State, even Massachusetts
We are reviving our tournament back to the heights and good times we’ve always had, except for last year’s date change, which will never happen again. To remind you all, after 3 games at the beautiful East Hampton Middle School soccer fields, we have the highlight of the day: the Legends game. All youngsters must hoot, haw and generally make loud noises as us oldsters gallop around the field. Then we go back to 86 Stony Hill Road for tent setup, swimming pool, hot tub, pahtay , seafood delivery and general foolishness. Kegs are tapped , Preakness is on and we let it rip. All guitars and sing alongs are encouraged, especially at Treehenge. Sunday morning brings a killer pancake breakfast and 3 more rounds, with the final one to determine the championship.
After play this year, there will be BEACH. Atlantic Beach is a great local spot right in the village of Amagansett. Come Early, stay late. Friday arrivals are fine, and play doesn’t start saturday morning until 11 giving those who are traveling time to get there. All players will find a team. Teams are $500. Individual players are $50. Families are encouraged. You won’t be able to enjoy the Hamptons for this price ever.
So guys and gals, let us know what your plans are. This is a celebration of older players. We want the USAU to now recognize Legends and support a new division with a championship. Lets go get em Gang.
