Can't wait to get out on the water? Go kayaking! As of mid-March,
there already is a large area in the southern portion of Shadow
Mountain Lake that is free of ice. This is due to huge amounts of
water being pumped up from Lake Granby. The early boating season
begins with kayaks. Kayaks don't have to be winterized and they don't
have the concerns of water freezing in the engine compartment during
our very cold nights. Eskimos know this, of course. Watch for whales
breaching through the ice!
