Inthe window How would you like to repair your Office Programs, select Online Repair > Repair to make sure everything gets fixed. (The faster Quick Repair option is also available, but it only detects and then replaces corrupted files.)

Ferkin Ell!! Another client just called. Same problem with 2016 as above now. Outlook wont start then it suggests trying in Safe mode and brings up the Outlook profile. Click ok and nothing happens. Im not trying the repair on that one one though. All a bit worrying.

Well that might have to be what happens but that brings me to another issue. I think these were installed in February and purchased on an electronic download (four copies). I had a right carry on downloading and setting them up with the electronic download system.

I guess thats what I will have to do though or at least try tomorrow when there is someone there. The computer is complaining it needs restarting but there is nobody there to log it back in. I wondered if I restarted if it would all come back but I am guessing part of the online repair actually uninstalls the office suite but as it broke half way through I am left with nothing.

Online repair uninstalls then reinstalls. If the repair fails you need to completely reinstall. If the Office entry still shows up in Control Panel, you may be able to do an Online Repair again and let it restart the process.

Thats great thanks. There is no reference to Office in control panel anymore in add or remove programs. So ill have to try and login to the electronic download and see if I Can re-install it but there are four. No idea which one this is.

Those links are helpful. Someone even did a batch file for the roll back. I found this in the 365 messages. It says its only Exchange but my client thats lost her complete Office was using VPOP Mail server (internal) and pop3.

Only had one other client unable to get into Outlook so I am wondering if an overnight update has fixed the issue. I expected a deluge of calls this morning but so far only two broken ones and one fixed.

When you run a Quick Repair operation, Office will attempt simple repairs using local files already on your PC. This usually takes a minute or two to complete. In about 4 cases out of 5, in my personal experience, this step alone is enough to repair Office properly and restore it to working order.

This operation takes a bit longer because it downloads the Office applications and their supporting files from the Microsoft servers to the target PC. That means three minutes and up is typical for it to step through its paces, depending on your internet download speed. My connection just clocked in at 331 Mbps on the test machine (according to Ookla Speedtest), and it took 2.5 minutes to get to the download announcement screen shown in Figure 7.

Then it took another 4 minutes and 24 seconds for the (genuine) progress bar shown above to download all the files. Watching my network access while this was underway, I saw the typical on-again, off-again download behavior for Windows Update occurring here. The download meter ran as high as 180 Mbps, and as low as a few Kbps while the download was underway.

Click the Close button, then try your problem Office application again. In my experience, only 1 in 10 Office installations will still fail to work. If yours works, count yourself lucky and get back to your normal routine.

Microsoft SaRA is the Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant. Microsoft itself uses this program for troubleshooting, so if you ever call in for telephone or online support, they may ask you to install it (or they may install it for you, as circumstances dictate).

Initially when I first installed it on a fresh windows 8.1 install, it worked just fine every reboot. Then nothing happened aside from one additional reboot months down the road. Now every reboot necessitates an online repair which takes an obnoxious amount of time on my slow work connection as it re-downloads the entire program.

Is there anything that can be done aside from 1) wiping office completely and installing again [doesn't help] and 2) wiping windows completely and installing again [please no]. Quick repairs don't work at all post-reboot.

My configuration is pretty much as basic as it gets. One admin user account. All drivers are up to date; Windows is up to date. No other weird problems. Operation is butter smooth except this terrible software package.

I used the MS provided complete removal FixIt yet the problem remains the same. This is a rampant issue from what I can tell - tons of other users are reporting the same thing. (By that I mean the FixIt not actually FixingIt)

Thinking it might be much less of a PITA to repair only the OneDrive business application, I went about setting up Thunderbird in place of outlook using an EWS URL for calendar and suffice it to say, it takes equally as long to set up/repair a single tiny app as compared to the whole suite. I guess it's all bundled together regardless, except it did in fact only install the OneDriveB after about 30+ minutes. This is just the worst implementation I've ever seen.

Since repair failed to fix the issue, I would suggest you to run the fix it mentioned in the link below to remove the traces of Office completely from the computer and then reinstall the Office program, check if it helps:

Recently, there have been a lot of issues with the bots not being able to open Excel workbooks using the Excel scope activities. Usually, if you restart the bot, it runs fine but it is affecting multiple production bots sporadically.

Thanks for the response, @Raluca_Laic

On Client A - this started happening around september last year. This was the only client that started having issues after having bots in production for a while. We repaired, uninstalled/reinstalled 32/64-bit but nothing changed. Still had this error popup occasionally:

Are there any best practices? All i can think of is adding retry scope around Excel scope and try to keep the workbooks open wherever possible, but some redundancy on the activity itself would be ideal.

UiPath.Excel.Activities.ExcelProcessScopeX Opens or reuses Excel processes, loads the Excel project settings and applies them to the associated Excel file. This activity makes managing Excel processes easier by allowing you to configure the launch...

The repair utility returns an "Online Repairs need the internet and it looks like you may not be connected", and does almost immediately upon being run.

The computers are connected to the internet and can otherwise access all websites, including the various MS websites.

It's not a a PMTUD issue (my usual go to when this sort of weirdness happens). If the device is tethered instead to a 4G connection or otherwise bypasses the Sophos XG, the issue goes away.

The device has the Office365 web exceptions setup as per -us/132291

Sophos is an XG330 running 17.5.1 MR-1 and there is nothing immediately obvious in the system logs.

Hi ersatcha

Thank you for contacting us.

Did you observe any denied logs for URLs related to Microsoft Office repair utility under web or application filter logs?

Please try to create below given scenario to narrow down few things.

1. Create source IP based firewall rule for LAN to WAN for specific system IP.

2. Position the rule on top

3. Please apply HTTPS scanning only and Web and Application filter as allow all and check whether the utility runs or not.

4. Please apply HTTPS scanning only and Web filter policy and verify the scenario

5. Please apply HTTPS scanning only and App filter policy and verify the scenario

This can be a variety of false positives from web filtering to country blocking depending on how you have it setup, there are a few more additional considerations here besides the Sophos KB -firewall/f/firewall-and-policies/109016/xg-firewall-policy-blocks-office365-download-and-install

I would go to log viewer, look at the firewall rules for that specific IP for anything denied and also look at the web filter logs for that specific IP for anything denied. Once you find what it is it gets easier to narrow down.

Your file is very badly corrupted. When I delete all the null characters at the front of the file I am left with a good ZIP container but content.xml is zero bytes long which means there is no user content in the file.

However, I think there is some user data in content.xml as the sum of the bytes reported for all files is less than the file length so something is not being reported. I think content.xml has been truncated so it is reported as being zero bytes long. Someone with extensive knowledge of ZIP file structure might be able to recover some data.

This appears to be the case as the site recovered quite a bit of your data. I downloaded the repair utility and it recovered lots of user data which suggests they are managing to unzip the truncated content.xml file. Check the recovered data - the last bits they recover are:
