Email Footer threats

Hello,

I'm sure many of you have had the email threats from person(s) connected with Mantrav that is you post or forward an email from Mantrav online as proof of harassment they will "sue you" or worry you that you are breaking a law.

Let me put your mind at rest..

Nobody in history has ever been sued over one of these email footers (not even in the USA) ; so it's pretty clear that they are frivolous. Here's a great article from the Financial Times which discusses this in detail, and talks about the silliness of the email confidentiality agreement, which purports to involve someone in a contract with or without their consent simply because they read words on a screen; the article has more of an emphasis on European law, but makes valid points no matter where you are. Conclusion: "Legal disclaimers on e-mails are not only unenforced but unenforceable – making one wonder why they are so popular. The only plausible explanation is that companies use them simply because people don't know the law and so abide by them out of fear"
