Dear ones,

How are you all doing? I hope you're enjoying the last rain showers in your cities. Last month we had eagerly planned a Saturday to watch the movie PARCHED, which  brings infront of us the dark side of patriarchy and the veil it creates as a way to live life for women. The plan was cancelled due to riots in Delhi so, we're back with the screening of the movie again on next Saturday.

" छोरियां ज्यादा पढ़ लिख लेगी तो लगन कौन करेगा"

"कल्पना का मर्द अपनी मर्जी से मेरे पास आता है तो मेरी गलती "

These are a couple of dialogue from the movie PARCHED.

Synopsis: Parched is the story of four women in a desert village of RajasthanIndia. The village and the society are plagued by several social evils, age-old traditions and practices of patriarchy, child marriage, dowry, marital rapes and physical and mental abuse.

Genre: Drama
Language: Hindi
Duration: 118 minutes

Women have the right to decide what they want. They can articulate their needs and desires. And they have the power to put a stop to abuse and voilence is what this story of hardships tells us while giving a happy ending . Though the story is based in a rural setting, we're all a part of society which has caught us into conditioning.

You're free to bring some snacks. :D The movie will be followed by a small circle of sharing and discussion related to themes touched in the movie.
