Dear All,

As I mentioned today, there will be no class on May 28th because I have to attend a conference. To make up for lost time, I suggest you do the following:

  • Continue reading the material (today we finished discussing the Introduction and started with Chapter 9). It will help if you attempt to do the exercises and bring questions when we meet again.
  • Watch two videos:
    • The Human Language Series. Part 1. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZpZAba6gWek 
    • English File: Talking Proper. I've given you access to this video on a private You Tube account. You should have received a separate notification. This video deals with different varieties of English and the perceptions people have of them.
On the web site you can find a whole section with links to other videos. Enjoy!

Ah, I forgot! At the bottom of that Videos page on the web site, there is a handout that will guide you in the viewing of the Talking Proper video.
