Whenever I click "Select Drive" to load an image or palette, Grafx2
freezes. I use an external drive whose name is in hanzi, could not
recognizing the characters be the cause?

which exact version of grafx2 are you using ?
Which OS version ?

could you launch grafX2 with the -v option and paste the log here ?
