Hi there,
On the fileformats page is states that PNG files can be saved with 1
color set to transparent. How is this acheived? I can see no settings
or options for choosing which index is transparent. I tried color 0
but to no avail. My image background is solid black.

Any help much appreciated.

It's available in the "2.2 wip" version only :
In the "Layers" toolbar, click the large "layer" button.
In the menu that opens, check the "Background" button.
The color that will act as transparent is on the button above. To modify it, click the button, then pick a color in your image.

Thanks for that. I have a Mac experimental 2.2WIP build from someone
in the bug tracker. While it does have layers clicking the button
doesn't do anything so I guess I'm out of luck. I'll have a go
compiling a linux build. (Since the xcode project is in a bit of a
mess just now).

You should also be able to use the makefile on mac os X, however as far as
I know it will not build an universal binary. It's still ok for your local
use...

Fantastic. 2.2WIP works great and transparency is saved correctly.
Excellent editor for a netbook btw.
