Hey all,
I'm looking for GML / video ninjas who'd be interested in hacking on a GML / HTML5 video experiment at
NYC Buttercamp on march 26th - on-site, or remote.
At Mozilla (and with friends), we're currently doing a bunch of HTML5 <video> and <audio> experiments and demos based on
Popcorn and
Butter, a javascript library that allows you to ad events to a video + an authoring tool.
GML support was added in few hours last week. There is a GML WebGL renderer from another project. I have a feeling something *really* cool could be done, but it's quite there yet. We will bring in a couple of developers and spend the day hacking on a demo. Please ping me off-list if you're interested and want to contribute.
The idea right now:
I shot the raw material when documenting a talk/workshop, Evans did in Barcelona. With Gabriels help, we edited down to this:
http://vimeo.com/20341058 (4:32)
http://vimeo.com/20851419 (15:42)
I find the video useful for explaining both the basics and the first steps for anyone interested in GML.
There is room for improvement, but this could be a point of departure - and of course the results will be available for other GML documentation projects.
We did a mockup (see attached) which links the video with GML playback whenever a tag is referenced - plus a scrolling list of "popcorn" added to the video. I'm still looking for input as to how this could become something that actually is meaningful/helpful - so, I guess the question is:
What would you like to be able do with videos that contain GML tags etc is there were no limits?
