[visa] return to US to pick up UK student visa?

Hello,

I am in the US and have submitted an application for a UK student
visa.
My official start date at uni is 1 Nov, but the visa will likely
arrive 2 weeks later.

Wondering if I can legally enter the UK on a tourist visa for a few
weeks, get set up at uni, return to the US to pick up my student visa
and then return to the UK under the student visa? Has anyone tried
this?

Logistically this is possible, I'm just wondering if legally, from the
UK perspective, I can do this w/o jeopardizing my student visa
application?

I am not really sure about this but I think it's possible.
Almost same procedure is for US.
