Many people found it strange that Kris Aquino, the queen of massacre movies, paid a bigger income tax than the superrich Filipinos. While it explains why Kris does not have any difficulty changing gigolo-husbands, it does not explain why the richest Filipinos paid less.
 
The controversial party-list cases have been remanded by the Supreme Court to the Commission on Elections for review. What the Comelec is required to do is to decide two related questions: (1) Which organizations may participate in the party-list system? (2) Who are qualified to represent the party-list organizations?
 
The yellow headlines said it. First it was the 6.6 percent economic growth, then a count off on the record run of the stock market index, a ratings upgrade to investments level follows, then lately it was the Time magazine’s 100 influential people’s list.
 
Most candidates believe and perhaps rightly so that an endorsement by movie and television personalities is a sure-fire formula to win.
