Friday May 1, all day, May Day DC (general strike)
From: https://www.maydaydc.org/details
Are you ready to rise up for DC and commit to join us for a day of no work, not school, and no shopping on May 1? Pledge to participate via our pledge form linked below.
We encourage businesses in DC to close on this day and for workers to join us at the Washington Monument at 12:00 PM.
Countries around the world observe May 1 as International Workers Day, a day to celebrate working people and the struggles and gains made by unions and the labor movement. Here in DC, May 1 is also recognized as DC Statehood Day, in recognition that DC will eventually secure our full rights and political power when we are admitted as the 5/1st state.
The May Day Strong coalition is uniting people all over the country to take action on May 1 in solidarity with each other. This is the DC action of the May Day Strong network.

Wednesday April 29, 7-8:30pm EDT, Abolition 101: Break the System, Not the Vibe
From: Harriet’s Wildest Dreams
Why Abolition?
As prison abolitionists, we are fighting for a world where the response to social problems does not include prisons, policing, prosecution, or any form of surveillance, supervision, or incarceration.
These systems of punishment rely on, reinforce, and perpetuate structures of oppression; white supremacy, patriarchy, capitalism, xenophobia, ableism, and heterosexism. We aim to undermine and abolish these systems, not reform them.
