In response to inquiries...

Yes, there is an event in Alexandria:
6:30-8pm, Alexandria VA: Alexandria, VA 22314
https://www.mobilize.us/john-lewis-actions/event/806489/

In leading a group to the DC event (see message below for details), we are assuming that many Alexandrians will be comfortable coming out to an Alexandria event. Our aim is to give people another option and to give people who are cautious about attending events in DC a positive experience.

Since the groups that we lead to events are usually small and Alexandria social justice events are usually big, we are not concerned that we will diminish the Alexandria event.

We encourage everyone within reach of this message to come out on July 17 to oppose "the most brazen rollback of civil rights in generations." We count over 20 events in the DC area.

Let us please envision together a nation where no one is exploited[1] because of their immigration status or state of vulnerability and where no one is ever "disappeared." In a nation of such great abundance, no individual should be left behind.

Thanks,

Jonathan

[1] In Stamped From The Beginning, Dr. Ibram X. Kendi tells us that social acceptance of exploitation produces racist ideas. If we wish to end racism, we must end exploitation.
