Friday May 1, all day, May Day DC (general strike)
From: https://www.maydaydc.org/details
Are you ready to rise up for DC and commit to join us for a day of no work, not school, and no shopping on May 1? Pledge to participate via our pledge form linked below.
We encourage businesses in DC to close on this day and for workers to join us at the Washington Monument at 12:00 PM.
Countries around the world observe May 1 as International Workers Day, a day to celebrate working people and the struggles and gains made by unions and the labor movement. Here in DC, May 1 is also recognized as DC Statehood Day, in recognition that DC will eventually secure our full rights and political power when we are admitted as the 5/1st state.
The May Day Strong coalition is uniting people all over the country to take action on May 1 in solidarity with each other. This is the DC action of the May Day Strong network.

Sundays, 7:30-10:30am EDT, Offering hospitality to the homeless
From: https://nyapc.org/
The Radcliffe Room, a New York Avenue Presbyterian Church program that has been lifting up people who live in the streets and shelters of Washington for decades, is seeking regular volunteers to serve food, distribute clothing and be a friend to 150 or so people who need all three. We are open on Sunday mornings from 8:15 to 9:30, with volunteers arriving to assemble sandwiches and set things up at 7:30. Sure, Radcliffe Room volunteers rise early, but we have bottomless coffee cups, energizing, rewarding work, and a fantastic community of people. And you still have a full day -- and maybe a well-deserved nap -- to look forward to when you're done.
Where: 1313 New York Avenue NW Washington, DC 20005
