Happy 2026! We appreciate your attention and volunteerism and hope to
continue working with each of you for the common good here in
Alexandria. And now...
Grassroots Alexandria Monthly Action Meeting!
When: Thursday, January 8, 7-9pm
Where: 3801 Mt Vernon Ave (TWU building), 22305
What: This will be a joint meeting of project leaders and team members
working on Alexandria Human rights, Pro-democracy action, Education, our
Environment, Housing Equity, and Transportation Equity. We will be
updating each other on immediate concerns, such as local school
policies, the housing master plan update, previously under-represented
human rights concerns (Palestine and more), and ICE in Alexandria. We
will discuss ongoing projects: tenant protections, climate/environment,
transportation, human rights, restorative practices in ACPS, and much
more.
At our meeting, we will check in with each other, hear from project
leaders, and consider next steps. Everyone is encouraged to attend and
ask questions. People who would like to participate in the GrA Reading
Group can share a thought or two about the latest reading during
check-in. We will be discussing the chapter entitled Unpredictability,
in On Freedom by Timothy Snyder.
Grassroots Alexandria works in small groups focused on specific
projects. We hold an action meeting on the 1st Thursday each month. New
volunteers are always welcome (and needed) to join us and learn about
our work. Info for new volunteers is posted here:
