Join us for our peaceful Bridge Brigade on a pedestrian bridge over Highway 495, on Tuesday, January 6 2026, 3:00 to 4:30 pm. We will have signs for 'Day of Disgrace' and 'Immigrants are our neighbors' and other messages to be determined. Your signs welcome; please no profanity. Bring American flags, wear patriotic colors, bring a hat and water! Note: Limited accessibility. There is a 0.2 mile walk from parking to the pedestrian bridge.

The J6 insurrection at the Capitol ended almost 250 years of America's peaceful transfer of power after elections. The riots were nothing less than an attack on democracy itself and should never be forgotten. Join DMV Third Act-ivists for a vigil to remember how close we came to losing our democracy on that day, to acknowledge how close we are now, and to commit to fighting like never before to keep it, in 2026 and the future.

This a local Indivisible event collaborating with and supporting Southern Maryland Democratic Socialists of America.
In March 2025, librarians in Charles County voted to unionize with the UFCW local 1994. Library Director KennethWayne Thompson has since cut library services and set aside $250,000 of taxpayer money to hire Jackson Lewis - a law firm whose business model is preventing union contracts - for negotiations. The librarians still do not have a contract and are being subject to harassment and discrimination.

Partnerships across race and class are a crucial component of the future Free DC is working toward, as well as the movement we know it will take to win. Achieving this will take intentional changes to our collective relationships, actions, and approach to organizing.
Free DC is partnering with Anti-Racist DC to provide this training for community members to learn how to incorporate anti-racist practices into our organizing. We particularly encourage everyone who is actively involved in our Ward Teams and Working Groups to attend this session.
