Hi All,

As most of you know, cities all across the USA have been wrestling with the issue of Palestinian human rights, with many cities passing resolutions or otherwise taking a stand. Today we are sharing info for an Alexandria Library event that seems like an opportunity to learn more about the history of Palestine.

Please join us for a talk by Dr. Rosemarie M. Esber to learn about Palestine's history following the end of World War I, from 1918-1948.

Rosemarie M. Esber, Ph.D., is an oral historian and an international development professional. She has conducted oral history projects about the 1948 Palestinian refugees; Arab Americans of the Southern United States; and White House journalist Helen Thomas. Dr. Esber is the author of Under the Cover of War and has published articles in various print and online journals. Her current research focuses on Eleanor Roosevelt and North Africa during World War II. She was a Fulbright Scholar in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, a CAORC Fellow to Jordan and Lebanon, and an AIMS Fellow to Morocco. She earned degrees from the University of London – School of Oriental and African Studies, and The Johns Hopkins University – The Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies, and Marietta College. She is a resident of Alexandria, Virginia.
