I tried grgsm_livemon yesterday with my hackrf but with a 915 MHz
antenna - the only antenna I had with me - and it appeared to work.
It may bite me in the ass when I tune it to 1900 MHz next weekend.
I used the default settings of the gnuradio rtl_sdr source - but I
changed the gain settings.
I set the RF gain to 0, the IF gain to 32, and moved the gain_slider to
the base band gain.
I'll have to confirm it's working after I learn something about GSM and
how to use gr-gsm.
Last year I tried playing with the hackrf and gr-gsm but I couldn't get
anything to work - I couldn't even get the rtl dongle work.
The rtl dongle gave me pll errors with very few signals using kal.
I didn't see anything in grgsm_livemon with rtl dongle - and even
rtl_test gave me pll errors.
I finally figured out it was the bias-tee versions the rtl_sdr and
gr-osmosdr which were the source of my problems - at least for the rtl
dongle.
I removed the bias tee option and rebuilt the software rtl_sdr,
gr-osmosdr, and gnuradio - and everything appears to be working.
