A social media overview presentation that provides basic theory behind social media as well as current statistics and practical examples from some of the most popular channels to demonstrate how they are being used--many from West Michigan. This would include LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Foursquare, and Blogs.
Mike Yoder, Social Media Advisor
Mike Yoder has a broad background in business development and consulting. He has worked with gazelle companies and multi-billion dollar corporations in the telecommunications, retail (corporate), IT, scientific, Web marketing/development, and domestic and international nonprofit industries. His fields of expertise include social media, organizational communications, human resources, recruitment, staffing, and contingent workforce management.
As a social media advisor, Mike focuses on the areas of business development and social media strategy development for clients throughout West Michigan. Responsible for taking LinkedUp Grand Rapids from 400 to over 6,000 members in two years—making it the largest non-alumni LinkedIn networking group in the State of Michigan—Mike is able to parlay his social networking experience into innovative and comprehensive strategies for his clients.
Mike has a BA in speech & communications from Geneva College in Pennsylvania and an MA in organizational communications from Western Michigan University. He is a current member of the Byron Center and Wyoming Kentwood Chambers of Commerce, and is a past Ambassador for the Greater Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce. He has also served as a board member for the Specialized Language Development Center and RandyDon Ministries. A long-time resident of Grand Rapids, he lives on the Northwest side of town with his wife and three children.
