Hi Jason - 

Repeating tasks in GQueues work differently than repeating events in Google Calendar - namely, only the current instance of the repeating task is displayed.  The next instance is not generated until the current one is completed (or deleted).  See here for full details:

Hi Cameron,

I was wondering if there is any possibility of that changing in the future, that GQueues will show future recurrences? I have used GQueues for years in my accounting business and have a lot of recurring tasks. Some of these are weekly, most are monthly or quarterly. The problem is that I cannot plan future months because the tasks have not yet been created. I may need to move my recurring tasks for clients to another software just because of this feature (although I would still use GQueues for my own use).

What I've done for those kinds of recurring tasks is put them in my main Google Calendar. 

Then on the due date, I'll have two events. If I want to de-clutter the day's agenda, I'll delete that occurrence in the main calendar, leaving the GQueues task behind. That way I can plan out the year, and still work the task when it's due. 

Or, I'll leave them in the Google Calendar, since I know that I have to do those things, and not move them over from GQueues.

Yes, we are looking at building an option where you can click a button to "create X number instances" of a repeating task so they will appear on your calendar ahead of time.

Hi Cameron,

I was just searching for any updates on this feature fix - would be really helpful as I am hoping to use the Google Calendar view to get a sense of how much I have committed to on a given day, and it's hard to know when repeating tasks (like run from 8-9, or work on chapter 3 every day the week of 7/24) only show up on the first day that they are assigned.  Any updates on this since you originally explored it?

Thanks for a great product!  I am enjoying playing around with it, and beginning to feel like I have a better sense of what is on my plate lately!

Are you planning to implement the mentioned feature?

I am just wondering why did you choose the approach of creating the next event over creating recurring event in google calendar and handling exceptions. For instance when I change time or duration of recurring task instance in google calendar the next instance is generated with the new duration and time, which is not desired behavior.

TLDR: Is there any way to influence this feature implementation?

Back in 2017 I have left GQueues because of this missing feature. I was obsessed with finding a good goal and task management tool, that would fulfill my requirements, I have tried tons of tools (the most popular ones), including paid ones. Today I have to admit that even considering this missing feature this one is the best for me and come back. Anyway having this feature would really make this tool for me feature complete, is there some way to influence this feature priority, considering it was already planned in 2015?

Thanks for the additional feedback, and welcome back to GQueues!

Right now we are focused on getting Team Queues launched.  After that we will re-evaluate our development plan and see if we can move this up the list when comparing it with all the other development priorities.

Great to hear from you on this topic. From my perspective it is very valuable that GQueues has some transparency on the road map, unlike Google Tasks and Google Calendar for example. In case I can proactively influence this feature implementation (e.g. vote on it, bounty it, contribute code, participate in design discussion) please let me know.
