Today we are excited to announce the launch of Team Queues!

teamQueueForum.gif

For Team Queues we took all the functionality you love about GQueues and re-built each component specifically to help your teams collaborate on tasks.

When you create a team, queues are displayed in the same location, in the exact same way, for all team members.

Simple, Flexible Sharing
  • Once you create a team, all new queues are automatically shared with all team members
  • Add a new team member and they automatically get access to all the team's queues
  • Choose from 5 permission levels for each team member - manager, collaborator, completer, commenter, viewer
  • Transfer ownership of the team to a new person in one step
Separate Team Calendars
  • Each team has a separate calendar in Google Calendar, which is automatically shared and displayed for all team members
  • 2-way syncing allows team members to update tasks directly in Google Calendar
  • Keep your personal tasks private, while allowing members to see the team's tasks in Google Calendar
Shared Tags
  • Create team tags that are automatically shared with all team members
  • Choose to lock tags or allow team members to create new tags
Watch the video at the link below, or login to your account to get started with Team Queues.

Thank you! This is exactly what we need in our office. We set up a team queue, but it seems a bit buggy. We are having issues with owner/managers not being able to reorder the queues, and running into problems when trying to mark items as done or delete them. If you have any ideas, it would be much appreciated. We are really looking forward to this feature!
Thanks again,
Aaron

Hi Aaron -

I'll follow up with you directly and see if we can get the issues worked out for your team.

Cameron,

Finally :) We had been drifting away from GQueues because of not having this type of feature.

One feature I'm looking for that's in Standard Queues and I can't find in Team,  the ability to share a Queue with someone outside of the Team.  Asana, Google and others allow this.  I.E.  You have an ad agency you want to share a Queue on marketing ideas, but you don't want to have to make a whole new team.  It may be there, but I can't find.

Thanks for the progress,
Brad

Hi Brad -

I'm glad Team Queues will be useful for your organization.

At this point it's not possible to share an individual queue in a team with people outside of the team.  I've put this on the list of improvements to make to Team Queues down the road.

There a couple of workarounds:

1. As you mentioned, create a separate team to share with outside people and put the necessary queues in that team.

2. If the outside people just need view-only access, you can publish the queue and send them the link to view it.

Hi There,

Is there a way to create a Smart Queue for the Teams Qs?  Not individually, but for the whole team?

Hi Lori -

The answer is yes and no.

Yes, you can create a Smart Queue that only shows tasks in a particular team.  When creating the Smart Queue, just select the team as the source of the tasks.

No, at this point you can't share that Smart Queue with all team members, so each person will have to create their own Smart Queues with the criteria they desire.

I hope this info helps.

Hi David -

There is no limit to the number of teams you can create, so if you want some queues only visible to a subset of people, I recommend you create another team and put those queues in that team.  This has the added benefit of creating a separate calendar for that team.

Out of curiosity, how do you see Team Queues with regard to sharing? I am going to guess many GQueues business are constantly sharing queues with outside stakeholders. For those business Team Queues don't really offer anything, correct? Meaning they can't share a team queue with an outside stakeholder, so they'd have to keep using non-team shared queues, right?

Thanks

Hi David -

Anyone can be added as a member of a team, so yes, it is possible to have outside stakeholders access all queues in a team.

A few others have requested the ability to share a specific queue in a team with additional people.  This is not currently possible, but we've added it to the list of requested improvements to Team Queues.

In the meantime, if you only want an outside stakeholder to see only 1 queue in a team then you have a couple options:

1. Move the queue to a separate team and add the appropriate team members, including the outside stakeholder

2. Publish the queue and send the link to the stakeholder

3. Move the queue out of the Team and share the queue using the older process.

My coworker would like to set up team queues. She shared a task with me and it showed up nicely in my gqueues nicely - and I received the email announcement. However, the task did not automatically show up in my calendar.  How  do I set up tasks that are shared to automatically appear on my calendar?
Thanks! Beth

Hi Beth,

I'm sorry for the trouble! I see that you have the Calendar Integration activated for your account, so the next thing to check is that the owner of the Team Queue has followed the steps outlined below to sync the team calendar. This is necessary for syncing the contents of that Team Queue with each team member's calendar.

I hope this helps, but let me know if you need further assistance!

All the best,
Stacie
