When an item is marked as complete a "next step" dialogue box would
pop up which would prompt you to specify a next step in this task.
And the ability to keep track of necessary steps to be completed.
I order paper so that I can produce a document in a certain format but
when the paper arrives I don't remember what document I was going to
use it for. I add a task for receiving the paper and when it is marked
complete I get prompted, print doc. X on the special paper.
One example may be for a company that assigns tasks to employees but
wants to include a ticket number for them to address. They would setup
a custom field called "Ticket Number" which would appear along side
the notes field. The users would have the ability to sort and search
by those custom fields.
Would be far better than dumping everything in the notes field.
1. Assignments are critical. The word share is one thing...the word
assign is another. A business version has to be able to track task
assignments. I need to keep track of who I assigned it to, when they
need to have it completed by, and when it is completed. In Outlook
there are start dates and completion dates. I also need to know they
accepted the task when it was assigned. Some people like tasks on
their calendars...some dont. The option to do either is nice.
2. I need to see a backup or export feature. I don't trust your site
right now. Too small and too new. I need to know that my data can be
exported to an Excel or CSV spreadsheet so that my data can be
routinely backed up to my computer. A full backup on exit to a
specified folder on my drive would be great.
3, You refer to "items"...a prefer the word tasks and projects.
Tasks are things that generally do not require the completion of
numerous subtasks. A project requires the completion of numerous
subtasks. It would be nice to be able to have a button for task
creation and then another one for project creation (that allows for
subtasks that can be organized numerically and by date/time frame). I
guess each queues can be a project by itself but there may be times
when I want to have a project inside the queues...I created three work
queues...Clients, Marketing, Administrative...I don't envision more
than that. I try to keep my business actions segregated and
simplified.
4. Business tasks and projects involve documents. So we need to be
able to attach documents (any kind of document but especially PDF,
Word, Excel, etc.). I like to have the documents attached to the
task...this is something that Outlook does very well. Outlook also
lets a user drag and drop an email to the task icon to attach/append
the email to the new task. This saves time because I have the
information I need right in front of me when I am looking at it.
5. Multiple queues open at the same time. It would be nice to have
two or three queues open with say the top three or first three items/
tasks open and then the ability to scroll down each queues. A button
to expand one queues could automatically minimize the others.
These are the suggestions that stick out in my mind. I am sure there
are many more. I believe Outlook does certain things really well...I
am shocked that Google has done practically nothing to compete with
Outlook tasks (the current task offering is way too simple for
business)....your product is much better than what Google has offered
and if you can create a program that does what Outlook does in a more
Google-centric way...then I think your product will be in extremely
high demand. Best of luck. Thanks for an already great product.
As is the ability for Bberry - just as the iPones is

I worked at a workflow company years ago, and was shocked that they
missed the simple, valuable stuff like this - not long ago I was
literally ready to put something together out of sheer frustration of
not having it. Kudos to you for getting it done with GoogleDocs.
Anything I can do to help, let me know.
