Feature Request: Show/Hide Completed Tasks

I would like to be able to show or hide completed tasks.  I keep most of my completed tasks in the active view.  Sometimes, I would prefer to view the tasks without the completed tasks showing, particularly when I am viewing tasks with due dates.

Try shift+clicking the checkbox and it will archive them.

My request is for a new item in the Show/Hide menu to toggle show/hide all completed tasks in the current queue.

I've seen this feature requested in several places, and it doesn't seem like Cameron answers them, and I haven't seen it on the roadmap.

What I did notice were folks requesting the ability to see completed tasks along with pending tasks.

Either way, I really doubt that this feature was "overlooked."  I'd really like to know why it's avoided, and is there a work-around, or something.

Hi Rob -

Just to clarify, we are talking about showing/ hiding tasks that are crossed off, but still in the Active section (not Archived), correct?

Tasks that are crossed-off but still in the Active section are still "active" tasks.  If I added the ability to hide them, and then someone re-ordered just the visible active tasks that were not crossed off, then this would cause ordering issues when the crossed-off active tasks were displayed again.  What would be the order of tasks after this situation?  It's hard to tell.

If you want to see all active tasks in a queue that are NOT crossed off you can do an advanced search for them.  Just select the queue in the Advanced Search window, and then add "crossedOut=0" to the search query.

Example:

crossedOut=0 AND queueKey:"xxxxxxxxxx"

Does this help at all?

Hey Cameron,

I'm one on those people who would really love a toggle option to show and hide completed tasks without having to archive them. This option for Tags and Notes is super great. Not understanding your reply here. Why would you want crossed out or completed tasks to still be active? I'd love to have an option where I could hide or show my completed task and that these tasks would no longer be considered active. It would be like an integrate archiving option so I could see my past accomplishments without having to look in the archives.

Thanks

I would also like to be able to instantly look at all (active+completed/archived) tasks, for selected tag, or selected category. Is that possible? As of now, i see it is possible for a Task (viewing active and archived subtasks together), but same is needed for tags, and or categories. Thanks.

Adding a +1 to this one.  With other project software I have used I can look at a project and see the complete picture by switching between "active" tasks and "all tasks".  With GQueues i have to choose between noise (always seeing all tasks but with a check mark) and focus/no noise but no full context (tasks archived but cannot see the complete picture in one view).  Hopefully that comment makes sense.

Thanks for considering.
