The new GQueues for Gmail Add-on is now available for all G Suite and @gmail.com users!

The Add-on provides a number of improvements over the existing GQueues for Gmail Chrome Extension:

1. The Add-on works in all web browsers, not just Chrome.

2. The Add-on works in the Gmail app for Android, so you can finally create tasks from emails on your mobile device!

3. Once you create a task from an email, the Add-on shows the associated task whenever you view that email.

4. The Add-on allows you to mark tasks complete or modify task details directly from Gmail.

5. The Add-on allows you to attach an email to an existing task in GQueues.

6. The Add-on shows the associated task for reminder emails from Google Calendar, so you can easily mark a task complete when you get the reminder.

7. The Add-on shows the associated task for GQueues notifications emails, such as when you receive a new assignment.

Will this functionality eventually come to the iOS Gmail app?

Hi Jim -

Google is still in the process of bringing Add-ons to the Gmail iOS app.  Once that's fully rolled out though the GQueues for Gmail Add-on will be available there too.  We'll send another announcement when that happens.

This is a great extension, thanks!

If you're considering feature requests, it'd be super useful to have a way to display all tasks within the extension. As nice as the web interface is, there's a lot of convenience in having just one tab open on a screen to keep an eye on emails and on what's left to do.

I installed the accepted Google add-on but both it and the beta version appear as installed even though I removed the beta via "Manage Apps". How do I completely remove the beta version?

Thanks.

Thanks for the suggestion, David!  We agree, this would be super useful.

Right now Gmail only allows Add-ons to be activated when the user views a specific email.  That's why we have geared the Add-on functionality around a particular email.  We have filed a feature request with Gmail to allow Add-ons to always be visible.  If they make the change to allow this, then it will make a lot of sense for the GQueues Add-on to display all your queues/ tasks so you can manage them all right from your Inbox, and we'll update the Add-on accordingly.

Hi Jon -

Thanks for your help beta testing the Add-on.  Just now we disabled the beta version of the Add-on, so it should disappear for all beta testers.  Re-load Gmail in your browser and you should only see the public version now.

Hi. On both desktop and Android some emails are not accepted by the add-on. On Android only a message appears at the bottom:
"No add-ons available for this email"
(Most other emails works fine though...)

Probably not a Gqueues problem, but what is causing that?

Regards from Finn in Denmark

Hi Finn -

Thanks for the report.  We have read on the Add-on's Developer forum that emails that fail SPF and DKIM do not activate Add-ons.  For the messages where the add-on is not showing, are there any security warnings for those emails?  If so, then that's most likely why the add-on is not appearing for them.
Also, does the Add-on NEVER appear for those particular messages, or sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't?

Hi Cameron. It is only very few emails that never activate the addon, and some of them are very simple emails with no warnings, so I cant find a reason or pattern.
Instead I just resend those to my gqueues account email link, to pipe them into my gqueues inbox.

Hi Finn.

I had a similar problem and think I figured it out.  Are you retrieving other email accounts in Gmail via POP3?  If so, those emails are visible in your Gmail program/app/web page but they never actually are associated with the Gmail account that GQueues is connected to.  So the add-on doesn't activate.  I solved this by forwarding the other email account to Gmail rather than fetching them via POP3.

No, I have no pop3 accounts, only gmail. Only very few emails fail to activate the addon, so I can live with that. /Finn

Hi!
Potentially great app, but there is a problem - its loading time. When I choose email it is about 5 - 10 before app panel is loaded. Impossible to use it with such delay

Thanks for the feedback.  Yes, the Gmail Add-on platform is pretty slow right now, and unfortunately we don't have any control over that.  Hopefully Google will make it faster in the near future so Add-ons load and run quicker.

Just noticed that gqueues is now an available add-on on the gmail ios app.
Not sure when this was rolled out but the simple fact that it did is

A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!

Thank you and keep up the great work :)

Cameron, I finally was able to get my IT dept to install the add on for me and I like the look of it - but to be honest it is SLOWER than the old Chrome extension (more spinning wheel time...). Since I use Chrome at work (and hardly ever my phone) I would rather keep using the extension - but it has DISAPPEARED from my Gmail... I went back to the play store to see if I needed to reinstall it, but it's already there. Do I need to REMOVE the add on in order for the extension to work again?

Hopefully some speed/dexterity improvements are coming with the add on, since some of the features are great!

Hi Andrea -

Yes, unfortunately the entire Gmail Add-on platform is slow, which is why the GQueues Add-on is slow.  Google has stated they are working to improve the speed of the Add-on platform, so hopefully that happens soon.

You can definitely keep using the old Extension, and keep the Add-on installed too if you want.

The GQueues for Gmail extension was recently updated, and it may want you to authorize permission again before showing it again.

In the top right of Chrome you may see an orange circle with a white exclamation mark.  If you click this you should be able to authorize permissions for the GQueues for Gmail extension.

Alternatively, you can remove the extension and re-install it and that should get it working again too.

Here's how to uninstall it:
