Have you thought about making a public API? I use 3rd party software
to sync tasks and calendar items across Outlook and Google. It would
be incredible if I could also have it sync tasks to GQueues to
integrate work and personal to do items in to one place. I would
happily pay extra to have that option.

Yes, it's something I've considered for a long time now, but there are a lot of other features that are higher on the priority list at this point.  Eventually I definitely want to make an API available so GQueues can be integrated with other products.  -Cameron

Availability of API has just become more important to me, since I've found that the secondary Google Calendar that GQueues calendar integration creates (and this applies to ALL Google secondary calendars) does NOT sync across its private iCal link.  If you're in MS Outlook, for instance, and you've added the iCal link to your GQueues Google Calendar, it will populate with a snapshot of what's there upon creation, but WILL NEVER SYNC.

This isn't a GQueues issue -- it's a Google Calendar issue, but since customers have been asking for a fix since 2009 without relief, it may fall to GQueues to provide a robust workaround.

If iCal sharing doesn't show up in GQueues, it will fall to the development community to roll their own, so we'll need an API.

I want a way to pull my completed tasks out daily for goal tracking purposes.

Hi Cameron, just wondering if you had an update on the progress towards a public API? Is it on the radar yet?

2014 is going to be a year of productivity hacking for me, and I would dearly love to be able to scrape details of tasks due today/soon from GQueues for inclusion in a personal dashboard. I can probably use the synced Google Calendar API to get the basic info for now, but an API would make my life.

Sorry, nothing to announce at this point, Oliver.  When it does get planned though it will definitely show up on the public roadmap.

This would be fantastic. In particular I'd like to mine my archived tasks to come up with suggestions related to items I tent to repeat regularly. I could write it very quickly (and maybe even offer it to your users) if there was an API ....

One of my longest holdouts for switching with GQueues was a lack of 3rd party apps that sync and support it. Would love to see an API and potential 3rd party partnerships.

Hello Cameron,

Is a public API in the works still? I would love to be able to use a public API to write a script to manage task creation, editing, and reading. We have things stored on google sheets and want to integrate that into gqueques to automatically generate tasks.

Hi Danielle -

Sorry, a public API is not in the near-term plans. However, we are thinking about creating a tighter integration with Google Sheets soon, so if you wanted to describe your situation and what you're hoping to accomplish we'd be glad to listen and see if there is a possibility for a solution.

An API would bring you much more benefit than another feature or trinket in the product. Why you wouldn't put priority on allowing your users to empower themselves is odd. We have a custom CRM. I build a task management portion, or I integrate with GQueues. Building my own gives me less functionality and using GQueues breaks up the work flow. That is a hard choice to make.

Cameron, a public API would provide countless integration points for GQueues, making it much more powerful and pervasive among current user base, and attracting a wider spectrum of potential customers.
It has been an open request for 4.5 years already, and so far the answer has been .
Which could be the business case you need that may justify the inclusion of a public API in GQueues roadmap?

Best regards,
Rafa.

For reasons I won't get in to, I decided to use a custom solution for my notetaking (Markdown Documents synced between android and desktop via Dropbox, edited using any text editor w/ markdown previewing). I'd like to be able to create tasks from these markdown documents as easily as the chrome extension lets me create tasks from a webpage.

Without trying to examine and reverse-engineer how the chrome extension works, is there any documentation that I could leverage to create my own solution with http curl/get/post/rest calls from Zapier, or a custom extension?

Thanks
