Hi Cameron,

I left GQueues and have come back as a result of the new look. Thank you! I believe my renewal date is in July and one of the key items that I'll use to weight my decision to stay/leave will be the ability to bulk edit tasks.

For me this is useful for updating tags and dates. I would also like the ability to move multiple tasks at a time.

I just need to know that these items are on your roadmap and that it won't take 6-12 months to implement them. I've seen various bulk edit requests dating back to 2010. Is there not enough demand to address this sooner than later?

FYI: I left OmniFocus to come back to GQueues so my expectations are somewhat high but I know that you have something special here. OmniFocus was the last stop after trying pretty much everything else out there…. I want to stay but I also need to be as efficient as possible. I'm not saying that it's a deal breaker but it can be quite annoying.

Thanks,

Glad you're giving GQueues another shot, Frantz.  Taking actions on multiple items at once (such as tagging, moving, etc...) is on my list of improvements to make.

However, the top priorities for GQueues right now (and what will be developed over the next several months) are:
  • search
  • multiple notes per task
  • attaching docs

Sorry, this is probably not the answer you wanted to hear, but in my thinking, adding these features will bring the greatest benefit for the most users right now.

At the vary least, I need to be able to add a tag to a task and all the subtasks without having to add the tag one at a time. That way I can use a template for a complex project and quickly populate the copied template with the needed tags.

I support that.

However, you can prepare templates and then copy them as a new project. But the tags have to be added one by one so far, which is cumbersome.

If it helps, tags actually can be part of your templates (that is, if you know what the tags should be ahead of time).  You might check out this post on the various ways you can create templates in GQueues:

I just subscribed to Gqueues and really like it a lot, especially the integration with Chrome, iPad, and Android but really need the ability to batch edit. Often times I don't get all tasks completed on a date and need to batch move them to another day so that I don't feel overwhelmed. Currently this isn't possible.

Any idea's as to when this feature may be implemented? Much like Frantz, this will effect my future renewal decision.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the feedback, Athena.  This improvement is on the list, but the work hasn't been scheduled, so I can't give any time estimates at this point.

Moved over to GQueues from ToodleDo - and this is also my biggest complaint... really need bulk update.

Definitely seems like something that would be up front and required for something like this. I am using the 2 week free and was planning on paying for it but without the bulk edit it seems like a terrible pain in the butt. I will probably keep looking instead and hope to find something better until this is fixed.

Hi Cameron,

I see that you are down to the last item posted on your roadmap. Will you consider moving up the priority of the bulk edit feature request, or at the very least putting it on the schedule?

I love Gqueues and find it to be the best task manager I've used so far. However, this lack is what keeps me looking at other apps of this kind. Quite honestly, I could have waited on the other features. I'm due to renew my subscription soon, and I'm considering switching to something else in order to save me the hassle of having to update tasks one by one--even if they're not as good as Gqueues. If I know the feature is at least on the schedule, then I'll hold off.

Thanks in advance for considering this.

Sincerely

Linda Sanchez

I would second the need for bulk edits.  This is my only dislike about Gqueues so I hope it can be incorporated soon.

Hi Cameron,

Any updates on GQueues bulk actions; Ideally would like to have the ability to "dump" all tasks in the inbox to an "look at later"

Hi Cameron,

I am a new customer, coming from todoist. I ablsoutely enjoy GQueues, especially the perfect integration with Google Calendar. But I agree that bulk editing is a must, like moving several tasks e.g. a supertask and it´s subtasks, to a  new date.

If this were included, Iwouldn´t know what else to ask for ...  but i´m a new customer, so maybe i´ll come up with more ideas later :-)

Regards, Carsten

Hi Cameron,

Loving Gqueues overall.

What's the status on batch editing?

I am a new customer and I am moving into Gqueues for real, but as I have learned to use it more, I would now like to retag and move around entire groups of tasks to make the platform really work for me. It looks like folks have been requesting this feature for almost four years in this thread.

Thanks!

Hi Matt -

Yes, it's been moving up the priority list for quite some time.  As of right now, it looks like this will probably be added during the 2nd or 3rd quarter of this year.

Yes, please make it a priority to add bulk date editing (it's been on the "enhancement list" for years now).  Most of my time in the tool is moving tasks one by one.  Its becoming increasingly annoying.  Calendar move is impractical when moving tasks out significantly into the future.  My work environment goes from quiet to hectic to quiet again.  What was important yesterday is not so today.  My work calendar is flexible and I need the same from this tool.

We're already in the second quarter, so hopefully soon?

Cameron, that's great & thanks for your response. Just requesting an update given your hope to potentially have this in Q2 of this year. I just stumbled again into a major need for bulk editing with a new and moving project, and I so wish it were ready now.

Hi Matt - 2nd quarter is very unlikely at this point.  Comments is the next major feature to launch - in the next month or so.  It's currently being tested by beta testers.  -Cameron

This post totally covers my thoughts on this. I'm becoming more embedded in GQs now and lack of bulk editing is becoming more cumbersome.

Looking forward to the update!

Along with Bulk Edits, having the ability to bulk change dates, by the difference of days between the first task and the new date would be phenomenal.

i.e. We have a task set due Dec 15, with subtasks due Dec 1, Dec 5, and Dec 10. If I did a date shift on the first date Dec 15 to December 20, it would also prompt to add 5 days to the subtasks. That would be miraculous! :)

The request for bulk editing goes back 5 years. Safe to say it will never be a feature and is a main reason I canceled my renewal. After going all in with GQs, I soon found out the program is far more arduous then many other programs on the market. Ironically, GQs created too much invaluable busy work for me. Plus, you can't manually sort within smart folders. You have to access each individual queue to do so. And for those reasons, I'm out. It's a shame b/c it's the best Google Calendar integration out there that I'm aware of.

I think we just need to give up on any updates that are worthwhile with GQueues.

I have made suggestions for several years to no avail.

I like the product but the improvements they do make seem to be out of touch with what the average user would want ...

Sadly, this happens with many products: the programmers latch onto something interesting but don't weigh out what the client wants as compared to what someone in their company says.

Interestingly? I've gotten 42 peers and friends to utilize GQueues.  Only 4 of us remain with it.

I found this out at a recent event where we discussed our progress with certain products.

The reason most dropped off?

You guessed it ... lack of "reality check" said one,  another said "Man, they just don't give a _ about their user's experience"

Definitely out of touch.

So advice?

Give up on it.  When you bring up why they haven't completed something they said would be done 4 years ago - they get defensive.

GQueues: a tip from a customer service guru?

1) Underpromise / Overdeliver - do not say "we'll have that done by ____" unless you are sure.  Nothing degrades the reputation of a company like unfulfilled promises.

2) Instead of being defensive?  Apologize
