I normally use HDSDR but i have to do it dual booting my mac or running an emulator, i have a macbook air, my main SDR is a SDRplay but i know there has been problems with this so will forget that for now, I also have one of these chinese copy RTL.SDR boxes which i played with before getting the SDRplay, it has 2 antenna inputs UV and HF

I downloaded gqrx for the first time, it was great to see a program that you could actually use with a mac.

Signals on the airbands came booming in and i was impressed with the audio.

I tried to go below 24mhz and it would not allow tuning, is there anyway to tune below 24?

The driver it picks up is RTL2838UHIDR (realtek)

Thanks

Just forgot to mention that the box its self does tune below 24mhz and is supposed to.

I can indeed get stations on the HF bands 80mtrs/4omtrs etc and it resolves ok but thats with other software.

I'm not familiar with this device but there have been some discussions
about it not so long ago.

As I recall, you need to put the device into direct sampling mode. In
the device configuration dialog change the config string from

rtl=0

to either

rtl=0,direct_samp=2

or

rtl=0,direct_samp=1

You will have to disable direct sampling to use VHF/UHF again, or use
different configuration files to the two modes.
