Hi, yesterday I got an hint from rightal.. (sorry I can not see your name) to turn off the pulseaudio in alsa-conf. This Morning I did this and reinstall gqrx again. After gqrx start I get a waterfall and it looks good but unfortunately the old problem with sound. The Rasp console shows "No audio FFT data" and than 0 in infinite loop. Can I get some more tips?
Thanks Claus

With alsa-conf try turning the backends on one at a time and see if any of them work. There also was an old problem with monitors that have HMTL speakers where pulling in directly for sound does not work, but using only the  monitor speakers does.

Hi, the speaker connect via analog jack, not hdmi or digital. But I had an look in the syslog and there are errors regarding alsa, alsa driver and memory dump to high.

If you do not have pavucontrol - install it.

Run gqrx and startup pavucontrol you should see gqrx in pavucontrol. pavucontrol lets you select the output device and if it is muted - click the mute button to be sure the output is not muted. I can select between the speakers and the Monitor speaker - they both work but they were muted to begin with.

in pavucontrol I see 3 outputs, 2 digital HDMI and 1 analog and they are not muted. I think the problem is alsa. In syslog is written there is a problem with alsa driver and I should consult an alsa developer. Yesterday I had open a bug report and I will see what happend. I am not very optimistic if I get an answer.

I assume that you tied all three outputs and that you are using the latest version of the PI OS. There are a still few things you could try

aplay -l

lists the audio devices

aplay ./test.wav

will try to play the wav file on the default device

speaker-test -c 2

will try to play a test sound.

alsamixer

lets you control the output of the audio devices.

That is just about the end of the list of things that I have tried !

Hello rightal...,
thank you very much for your check list. This Morning I tried it again. All your check list items without gqrx and pulseaudio worked fine (test.wav okay, speaker-test okay etc.). After installation of gqrx and pulseaudio (that is the problem) start with  "pi         757   586  1 07:01 ?        00:00:00 /usr/bin/pulseaudio --daemonize=no" causes no sound at all, gqrx is frozen and in syslog I get several error messages (sorry unfortunately in German):

Before installation of gqrx no pulseaudio was installed. After installation also pulseaudio server and pulseaudio-utils are running. I had instll gqrx as advice via raspberry software center (I did it also from teminal with apt-get install gqrx-sdr with same result).
I am at a loss.

Cheers Claus

Claus,

the latest version of Pi OS specifically includes PulseAudio (see
release notes at
https://downloads.raspberrypi.org/raspios_full_armhf/release_notes.txt).
On a test install of GQRX on the 2020-12-02 version of Pi OS (on a Pi
4B) all seems to work as it should as far as GQRX is concerned, and as
far as PulseAudio is concerned, as well. Bluetooth audio seems good,
also from the 3.5mm socket.

If you have a spare SD card, try a fresh install of Pi OS 2020-12-02,
updating it (very important, since bits of PulseAudio were updated
pretty quickly), and then installing GQRX from the Pi OS repository.

Viel Glück, 73, Stay Safe,

Robin, G8DQX

Hello Robin,
chapeau, you are really an expert.!!! New installation was not necessary, dist-upgrade is enough. Now gqrx works without any problems.
Many thanks, good luck and stay healthy,
Claus
