Hi,

I am running Gqrx and enjoying it a lot. Use 2 rtl-sdr dongles and can run 2 instances of Gqrx without any problems.

I did try to find some kind of instruction about the control of the program without luck.

So far I found out that dragging the spectrum up and down sets the "base" level (and with that the contrast of the waterfall) and using the mouse scroll wheel sets the "span" of the signal level.

Using the scroll wheel in either spectrum or waterfall changes the frequency, when trying to speed up the tuning speed by holding the shift (left and / or right) I noticed no effect and with holding the control key and using the scroll wheel the bandwidth of the user filter increases and decreases.

Perhaps there are other key / mouse combinations ? Is there a document somewhere where these combinations are mentioned ?

Thanks for the very nice software !

Kind regards,

Ben

Hi Ben,

There is no alt/shift acceleration of any kind at the moment. I may
add some later but I am not convinced it's worth the effort. Tuning
with the mouse wheel is really just for fine tuning. If you need to
tune farther away you just click on the signal.

Once you hover the mouse over the frequency digits you can use the
arrow keys to tune and to select the digit. But that's pretty much it.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the tips.
I just started my SDR journey using cheap DVB-T dongle since last week. I am using GNU/Linux for 'almost' everything. and the GQRX and other CLI tools are very useful, such as, rtl_fm, dump1090, dsd....

I am satisfied with GQRX as main SDR application, and wish I able to change major function's value using keyboard bindings.
Here are my wish lists and suggestion:
F   = Jump to Frequency tuning
N = Jump to the next peak after the center frequency/line.
B = Jump to the next peak before the center frequency.

G = Increase the gain + Toggle AGC
g = Decrease the gain
If possible, the "base level" of the FFT also automatically decrease/increase, so the waterfall always get an optimum conrast.

M = Cycle the "Mode", AM -> NFM -> WFM -> ....
R = Start/Stop wav recording
S = Increase squelch value by 1 dB step
s = decrease squelch value by 1 dB step

Thank you for the excellent SDR software.

Yours,
Mohammad Bahathir Hashim,

Hi Mohammad,

I agree it could be useful to have shortcuts like the ones you
mention. I put it on my list, but I don't know when I can have it
implemented.

Take your time and thank you very much for your consideration. :)

The shortcut key feature definitely makes gqrx a better SDR application and suitable for beginners and above.

Thank you.

Hi Alex!

congratulations for the gqrx software!

It is my main app for SDR!

I think it would be a good idea, those zooms or expands on vertical or horizontal axis, to be stored at .config/gqrx/xxxx.conf file,

like frequency, sample rate etc setting already stored there!

I known it is not something important, just put at your list.

keep going, your good job!
