There is something called GQRX DMR that decodes DSD in GQRX. It says it's a "block" for it. I'm really confused about these "blocks" you can add to GQRX. How am I supposed to add it in? I downloaded it and just got source code that I couldn't even compile due to unmet dependencies.

Typo! Meant to say "gr-dsd", not "GQRX DMR".

There is no direct support for gr-dsd in gqrx nor to extend it with
external blocks. You can of course add new blocks by modifying the
source code and rebuilding it, but it doesn't sound like that's what
you are looking for.

Ehm.. yes, that's quite normal, isn't it?

I saw a fork of gqrx on github that added DSD decoding support.
Otherwise the gr-dsd package might have an example program that uses
audio input in which case you can take the audio out from gqrx and
send it to the DSD decoder.

Is there any plan to merge the DSD patch?

There is no patch (that I know of) and even if there was I wouldn't
add it for the simple reason that it concerns proprietary and patented
technologies.
