Hi! I'm using the Manjaro distro with the latest gqrx release installed:

$ pacman -Q gqrx
gqrx 2.11.5-7

When I try to start gqrx I get the following:

$ gqrx
gr-osmosdr v0.1.4-134-gf3905d35 (0.1.5git) gnuradio 3.8.0.0
built-in source types: rtl uhd hackrf bladerf rfspace airspy soapy redpitaya
[INFO] [UHD] linux; GNU C++ version 9.1.0; Boost_107100; UHD_3.14.1.0-0-unknown
terminate called after throwing an instance of 'std::runtime_error'
  what():  No supported devices found (check the connection and/or udev rules).
Aborted (core dumped)

rtl-sdr is installed and the udev rules are located under /usr/lib/udev/rules.d

Any ideas what's going on here or how to trobleshoot the issue?

Thanks in advance

I’ve given up trying to understand Linux. I’m just going back to a Windows computer

When you get back on windows , try using a program that teaches you how
to read.
And how to be patient and wait for responses to questions, how ever
badly asked.

Try the rtl_test program to see whether the dongle works.
The only other thing I can think of is that the output reports GNU
Radio 3.8, so the packager must have patched both gqrx and gr-osmosdr
as neither support GNU Radio 3.8 out of the box - not yet.

The gqrx package does not work on Arch or Arch derivatives since they
package GNU Radio 3.8. I use the generic, staticly-linked binary
package from the website on my Arch machines.

Maybe I should have mentioned in my first post, but I'm using rtl_tcp (the other end it's rpi) and not a local sdr dongle.

Once I arrive at home tonight I'll try the statically linked package from the gqrx website.

Hope that the issue is fixed by the packagers anytime soon.

Thanks all for your help.

Your version of gr-osmosdr does not support the rtl_tcp backend.
We recently discussed this here:
https://github.com/csete/gqrx/issues/708

I have created a bug report in the Arch Linux bugtracker. Maybe the fix
will be included in the package.
