A newbie question : is NXP TDA 18218 tuner supported by gqrx ?

Hi everyone,

I just read an article about SDR in the french magazine "Hackable", introducing to SDR thanks to DVB USB dongles.
I'd to try with such a dongle I own, but I didn't find it either in the supported hadware list, nor in unsupported...

Would you please confirm that this dongle is (un)suitable for SDR :

- Dongle AVerMedia AVer TV Volar HD/Pro", vendor 07ca, product a835
- Chipset AF9035
- tuner NXP TDA 18218HN

Hi Jonathan,

It's very simple: If it is not on the list of supported devices than
it is not supported ;-)

Perhaps the article wasn't clear enough, but TV tuners are in general
not suited for SDR. SDR requires specific functionality (get raw ADC
data from device to PC) and it just happens that a few chips
originally designed for TV tuners support this functionality *and* we
know how to do it.
