Hi folks,

Gqrx works fine with my Airspy R2 on my Pi 3B.  I have headphones plugged into the jack on the Pi and am not hearing any audio.  I see there are several options for audio output, and stuck with "Default" and "default" thinking they must be similar but different.  I didn't try the HDMI option as I recall reading that it wasn't recommended (it uses 100% of the processor as it is).

There doesn't seem like there's much else to try.  If not Default (or default) then what?

Many thanks in advance,

Ken Alexander

Only used the Pi once in Desktop GUI install, with RSP1A
Seem to remember, as you suggest, that it is something to do with HDMI audio interfering with it,

But keep digging under HDMI options

Probably a right click on the speaker icon at top right and select the analogue plug output

Or bring up a terminal and
amixer cset numid=3 1

3 1 is analogue
3 0 is auto
3 2 is HDMI

or try using terminal command line again and

sudo raspi-config

Then when window pops up choose the menu item for Advanced Options

There is a known bug that AM mode produces no audio unless the
volk_profile tool has been run. Other modes are not affected.

Otherwise, check the squelch settings. Sometimes people move it to 0
by mistake which will mute the audio all the time.''

I had no audio using an HDMI to VGA cable to my monitor. I was unable to right click on the speaker to choose audio source. I didn’t have it using an HDMI to DVI cable to the digital input of the same monitor that I was using on my lap top. I wanted to be able to easily switch between my laptop and pi just by selecting the monitor source. So I swapped them and all is good.

So, based on my experience, it very well could be tge HDMI connection.

Hi Alex,

In all the time I've had my Pi (which, in my defence hasn't been that long) I never right-clicked on the speaker icon in the upper right corner of the screen.  I changed the selection from HDMI to Analog and the audio started right away.  That said, the audio is very choppy.  I assume that's because the CPU is running at 100% and is gasping for breath.  I also noticed that it takes the Pi 3 or 4 seconds to catch up when I change frequency.

Anyway, Gpredict works very well on the Pi, Gqrx was a secondary interest.  Thanks again everyone for your help!
