Rick,
the difference between an AppImage and GQRX, plus dependencies, installed from packages, is that an eventual dependency of GQRX→GNU Radio→whatever installs a set of udev rules which set the rules for specific USB hardware. An AppImage (by its very nature) is unable† to provide such a set of rules.
So:
1) what dongle hardware are you using?
2) have you set up a suitable udev rule for it?
3) did that dongle appear as a selectable item when you started GQRX?
3A) does it appear if you start GQRX with the -e command line argument (should throw up an edit box to select the SDR input device)?

†It could be done (but not necessarily totally
cleanly), but would need a lot of jiggery-pokery, and the user
would probably hate it.

When I start the AppImage from a terminal and start DSP i get :No audio FFT data
The same dongle works in Debian Bullseye. Can anyone suggest ways to fix this and any other information needed to diagnose/fix?Thanks.
Rick,
delighted to be able to help, and glad that you're back on the air, as it were. Remote diagnosis can be quite tricky!
