I installed Gnu Radio through a fresh Raspbian distribution repository installed on my Raspberry Pi 3. I installed Gqrx from Github following these commands from the gqrx.dk site:
$ git clone https://github.com/csete/gqrx.git gqrx.git
$ cd gqrx.git
$ mkdir build
$ cd build
$ cmake ..
$ make

I installed the Airspy drivers following the github airspy instructions:

wget https://github.com/airspy/host/archive/master.zip

unzip master.zip

cd host-master

mkdir build

cd build

cmake ../ -DINSTALL_UDEV_RULES=ON

make

sudo make install

sudo ldconfig

When I try to run gqrx with ./run_gqrx.sh I get the attached image as a response:

I'm not sure where to go from here in terms of trouble shooting, I don't understand what that readout is letting me know aside from that a lot of things aren't being found/working right. How do I enable the controlport? A lot of the readout mentions files and directories not existing, should I attempt another fresh install of everything and see if that issue persists? How do I go about fixing the "Unknown PCM cards"?

I don't know if the issue is really with the Airspy but Gqrx doesn't seem to be finding any devices to use.

When I type 'lsusb' the Airspy doesn't show up, which is why I think the Raspberry Pi 3 is having trouble finding it, anyways, regardless of Gqrx, but I could be mistaken.

I can provide more information but that is what I know about it thus far.

Michael,

What exactly are you trying to do???

I am seriously confused by why you are (1) installing gnuradio from Raspbian (2) build things from source probably in the wrong order and (3) then trying to use the run_gqrx.sh script from my binary package...

Are the instructions here really that difficult to follow?

Alex

Sorry I'm fairly new with most of what I'm working with. I apologize for that.

I tried following those instructions you mentioned upon first trying to get Gqrx working on my Pi but wasn't able to find any resolution.

I tried the instructions you linked to again and got this readout below:

I saw this issue on github (https://github.com/csete/gqrx/issues/478), would my situation be similar?

I appreciate all the help I can get, thank you for your time!

Best,

make sure you start with a fresh installation of Raspbian on the SDRcard so that you don't have your previous installs (raspbian / source) left over.

If it doesn't work, try running the setup_gqrx script in a terminal to see if it gives any errors. It requires "sudo" and there may have been some changes in Raspbian since the release.

Hey!

I started with a fresh raspbian image and was able to have everything work properly just fine.

I figure I was still getting comfortable with Linux command line stuff and I was messing things up with the first set-up without knowing.

Works like a charm now.

Thank you!

Best,

Finley

Glad to hear you got it working, thanks for the update! I was getting worried that something might have changed in the operating system.
Enjoy the program!

Alex
