Hi,

I just started using this software with the r820t dvb-t dongle and it is fun to use. I noticed the "noise blankets" in receiver options and tried to use it to filter some of the static. I understand that static is always going to be present but I am curious about the specific features such as the noise blankers to possibly filter or tune out some of it or other features i missed?

Thanks for the help

Hi Paul,

Noise blankers are usually for removing non-static noise, e.g. noise
from electric fences and ignition systems. Static noise is random so
it is not easy to remove. The only thing one can do is to reduce it
using audio filters, but that depends on the modulation type. For
example, in FM the noise will always be very strong and one uses
squelch to shut it off.
There is no audio filter in gqrx yet.
