Autostart DSP with xdotool on Pi4

Does anyone have xdotool successfully starting DSP by simulating ctrl+d keystrokes on a Raspberry Pi4 running Buster? I have searched and tried the xdotool commands listed in earlier posts on this forum, but they are not working for me on a Pi4 with Buster when used in any of autostart, systemd, or rc.local. The same xdotool commands entered in terminal with GQRX running do work and start DSP in GQRX, but just not when included within any of the various autostart options. If anyone has this working on a Pi4, then I would be very grateful for any information on how you did it. Thank you.
