Displaying img files in a Google Gadget?

Would it be possible to construct a Google Gadget that would display
img files? i.e. like the gadget in Sites for Google Maps. Obviously
the img file would need to be available on a server, but that's easy.

There's no problem, you just need to do some programming. If you have windows server you can generate images online. If you don't, you can pre-generate the tiles on your computer and upload them to server.
