Problem with opening OSM img maps

Hi,

I am completely new to gps navigatiion and also to using a PDA. I have installed gpsvp on my Dell X51v under WM 6.1. Then I downloaded several OSM maps in Garmin .img format and copied them to the PDA's SD card in a folder named Garmin. When I open gpsvp, I see a notification "reading 3 maps" and the 100%, but when I go to "open maps" > "Garmin" and click on any of the downloaded maps, only the preinstalled world map appears.

How can I get the downloaded maps to open?
