Hello,

The last version of gpsvp is about 1 year old. It could be interesting
to release a new version.

The subversion log lists following changes since version 0.4.22:

- MapConfiguration: New variables %EPSG_3785_LONG1, %EPSG_3785_LAT1,
%EPSG_3785_LONG2, %EPSG_3785_LAT2 + Variables %X, %Y, %QRST, %QKEY
extended to be able to specify the zoom level at which the variables
should be calculated (like %,,10X for %X at zoom_00 = 10)
- Raster maps: New possibilities to define the download/export area
though upper left and lower right corner (on desktop or mobile device)
or through an A4 paper format (only on desktop)
- Sounds by reaching specific altitudes through a new configuration
file Sounds.ini (ini file instead of the registry so that it is easy
to backup the configuration).
- Both already existing sounds (on GPS connect/disconnect + on
waypoint proximity) can also be configured.
- Sounds now works in the desktop version of gpsvp too.
- New monitors to display the coordinates of the center tile: Tile X,
Tile Y
- Issue 148: added namespace declaration in gpx files
- yandex.ru map removed (was not properly working)
- Bugfix for the experimental feature "map export"

Wants anyone to integrate other changes before a new version is
released?

regards
Jérôme

Hello Jerome,

It's great that you still use the software. It looks like most of people has moved to other OSes like Android or maybe WP7.

Hello guys,

yes, it's really amazing that gpsvp is still alive (and the recent
version has thousands of downloads) :)

To be honest, I, too, still use the smartphone version of this
software but much less intensive.
- I record tracks while walking with my camera to geotag photos
later. Android with integrated GPS module will not long for a whole
day.
- (external GPS receiver is a definite advantage here) navigate and
record tracks in the aircraft (yes, I know it's prohibited :) ). See
takeoff speed, cities and beauties that I approach, etc.

The rest of navigation tasks I do with Android. Maybe it's time to port? :)

Vitaly.

Hello,

Actually gpsvp is a one the main reason why I haven't bought a new
phone yet.
WM6 was also a good operating system at the time. I'm sure I will miss
some of its functions why any of the new OSs...
And my old phone is still working quite good.
But soon or later I will buy a new one and it will probably be an
android.

But porting gpsvp to android would from my point of view be too much
work.
Personally I would probably look for already existing open source gps
software, which I could try to complete to suit my needs.
