Hi Sean,

if we see carefully the first screenshot, there are 2 lines with no flags (id 120, 136). I think those id belongs to SBAS systems. It will very useful for the users of GPS Test, to recognize also those SBAS id's

Thanks Lodro!  Would you be ok with me using these as screenshots in the Google Play store?

I believe it's the only example I've seen with all satellite types represented.

Great!  Yes, these are Satellite Based Augmentation Systems, with the flag being the country of the organization operating the satellite.

It's on my TODO list to make these tappable, so that it shows some basic info about the satellite when you tap on it.

Hi Sean,

sorry, but my English is very poor. Now I understood what you are asking. Of course you can use those screen shoot everywhere you like. It's not copyright. But a lot of the is from my house, and as you can see I have hide the location. You can do what ever you like.

I post one latest from my device. We can see
GPS, Glonass, Beidou, Gallileo, SBAS all together
42 live GNSS channels and 15 GPS satellites (USA)

with this test I can show what is going on when I reset assist data with latest android version into my device. Before this android update there was not any issue.
Sorry about picture links. I could not post images and between of them to add text, here in google groups

delete assist data program info
https://i.imgur.com/l1JSNuc.jpg
with this screenshot we can see the message

https://i.imgur.com/dh7Mzh7.jpg
with this screenshot we can see 10 minutes before the test, how good is the GNSS measurements

https://i.imgur.com/nyr50zr.jpg
here we are when I have press "delete assist data" . I wait a few seconds before to take the screenshot, to see if (?) the receiver works OK. But I had wrong.

https://i.imgur.com/1UFoMX5.jpg
as you can see, it took 95 seconds to find my location. Normally needs from 3-8 seconds.
from this picture up to next 5 screenshots we can see, how poor are the data from GNSS receiver. The altitude, the msl altitude, the satellites

https://i.imgur.com/f2hzvzz.jpg
this screenshot is for comparison with the previous one at the same place before 70 minutes

after some hours things are getting better

With one more test into my device I can have access to 43 satellites. OK, i understood there are too many lines into the screen, but ... maybe we can do something about that.

1.
As we can see, program has one small window with information like location, altitude, ...
There only 2 text columns on the left, with an empty space on the right. What about if we can use this empty space with text from the left columns ??? After that, we have more space for flag window. Am I right ?

2.
another
thought is the upper blue bar. If we remove this and add to the info window (below) the 3 dots hidden menu, on the right corner.

we can see all the text. one flag is missing

we can see all the flags. text is missing

Thanks for the info!

Yes, it seems some devices now just don't recover quickly from clearing assist data. GPSTest v3.1.1 now warns users of this when they choose the option and they have to confirm before the data is cleared.

Hi
as we all know, every GNSS receiver has certain technical hardware specs. But it's 99% impossible to found those detail specs from the
smartphone manufacture device we buy. One of them, is for example the GNSS channels of the receiver.

According to gsa.europa.eu "there are already over 100 GNSS satellites in orbit as of December 2017". Into the near feature (2020-3) this number will grow up, but not very far (my opinion is from 120-140 max).
https://www.gsa.europa.eu/newsroom/news/gnss-user-technology-report-2018-available-download-now
page 10

So, when we use the app GPSTest, we can discover the number of the satellites we "can see" into the sky. Of course the number the device "use", is less (mountains, buildings,... ). But, is this number what is real into the sky /
hemisphere or is the limit from the hardware of the smartphone we test ???

The pictures I supply, is from the last 2 months I have test. Those are the max results I have measure. How knows what are the limit of snapdragon 835 SoC ? Maybe better ?

As time passes and we reach 2021, the number of satellites around the earth is increasing. For present I will refer to the new systems, Galileo and Beidu. GPS and Glonass are in full operation for several years.

So with my device, as time passes, I see the number of satellites grow with GPSTest application. This time we have 47 satellites in total.

or do I say 51? The most observable, if they measure the flags on the screen will find them to be 51 and not 47 as measured by the GPSTest application. I feel happy, this is something new for me and I must investigate in the future.

about the 4 more satellites to the previous screenshot, the mystery has solved. There are into Galileo measurements id 5,9,24,25. Those double id maybe, it has to do with the option I have enable into developers menu "force raw gnss measurements" with android 9. Now I have disable this option and into my next measurements, I will see what has changed .
