how do I stop GPSE from offering to open PDF files?

I'm using Android 7 on a Moto G5+

When I click on a PDF file  (using Google Files), I get a prompt that asks me which app to use - GPS Essentials or Adobe Acrobat.

I have no idea why GPS Essentials is registered as an app that can open PDF files. How do I remove this so there is no choice and the PDF just opens automatically with Adobe Acrobat?
