I ride a Harley. My local HOG chapter posts GPX files (created in Garmin Basecamp) to the chapter web site. Many people down load same & import into their Garmin GPS devices. I like to import the GPX file into my Samsung Galaxy Note 2. I went through the manual & find no such instructions. Could someone help please. Regards Rod

Hi Rod,

You can import GPX files:

- Copy the file to your SD card,
- Tap on Streams,
- Tap on "+",
- Swipe to the Import tab,
- Tap on Browse,
- Select the file,
- Tab on Start

Instead of copying the file around, you can also enter the URL from the web site directly into the import dialog (or copy and paste it)

Thank  you so very  much  for  such timely  response . I  will  try  this  now. When  I learn to  do  it  successfully, I  will  post  my experience  to chapter site for  everyone's possible  interest.

Michael: I  imported the GPX file . To create  a "Turn by turn", it  says  I have  to  specify  at least  two  points .  This  is  in a yellow  banner. Would  you  still  help  please .
Regards  Rod

If your GPX already contains routes you might not have to create routes using the Directions tab. You just long tap on the first element of the route and select navigate.

You use the directions tab if you only have a target waypoint and want to get there on streets. E.g, you long tap on one of the waypoints that you imported, then tap on "+", swipe to directions and select Create to create a new route to the selected waypoint. E.g. you would use this option of you don't have a route from a GPX file.

Michael: I am attaching the GPX file for Day1 of our 9-day road trip. I tried a long tap on the first point, did not find "Navigate". sorry, I sound like an inept idiot.

When you long tap, the action bar changes color and icons. The up arrow is Navigate.

You can also add the route card to the stream to make things easier: Select the route so that you see the waypoints, then tap on "+", swipe to Cards and select Route. This will add the route card where you can start the route, skip between waypoints and see the current target.

Michael: I finally was able to process the GPX and get a "turn by turn" listing. when I actually start the trip, would the app give me oral/audio instruction for every turn, like a car GPS ?
Regards
Rod

You will hear announcements for waypoints (When you start a route you should actually hear something while the blue message pops up). You can adjust the distance in settings. On bluetooth headsets this is sometimes not working, though. GPS Essentials will speak the waypoint name so you can customize the output.
