I last used GPS Essentials on March 27 on a Pixel 4a (Android 13).  Although I issues with imported KMZ files not showing the correct icons, all other functions worked .  When I launched GPS Essentials today, I was prompted to select the database location.  I recall that there were three options in the past, but now I got "Internal Storage" or "External App Storage".  I selected External but apparently I did not have permission to write to the location.  I uninstalled/reinstalled GPS Essentials - it now has access to /Android/data/.  I followed the  WHERE IS MY DATA process - GPS Essentials claimed it converted 202 streams but I only see two: Messages and Configurations.  Fortunately, my old database is still there.

Sorry to hear that you're having this issue. It appears that the imported data does not show up immediately. Restarting the app should fix this.

Unfortunately, the data did not appear even after rebooting.  Contrary to some posts, the Google Files app does not show folders in /Android/data. Using ADB, /Android/data/com.mictale/gpsessentials/files/databases/showed a 94KB file, when it should be 390MB.  If I create a Waypoint, it is saved and gpse.db increased to 303KB.

I did find the converted gpse.db in /sdcard/Android/data/com.mictale.gpsessentials/files/export/databases.  If I manually copy the export/databases files to databases using ADB, GPS Essentials now sees all my streams and waypoints.

I have some other projects to work on but will try to reproduce the issue on my wife's Pixel 7.

I just tested on a Pixel 7.  It was a fresh install so  it created /sdcard/Android/data/com.mictale.gpsessentials/files/.  I copied my Pixel 4a data to /sdcard/com.mictale.gpsessentials and then went through Settings to select External and convert the existing data.  The conversion appeared to be successful but the migrated data was in /sdcard/Android/data/com.mictale.gpsessentials/files/export/databases - the igpse.db from the initial install had not be updated.

Which folder did you select to be converted? And which storage location did you select? Internal or External App Storage?

In versions of GPSE before 4.5.19, I saved all GPSE data to com.mictale.gpsessentials in the device root (/sdcard according to ADB).  When I was prompted to select a storage location, I chose External App Storage so I can backup the GPSE data.

Hi there

I am using GPS essentials to record locations of mostly alien weeds that we remove in a nature reserve. Several of us do the recording as Waypoints exported as KML files. I read the KML files, write new observations into a CSV file and then do further processing and analysis. Further developments are on-going.
