That's possibly a permission problem. Android is getting increasingly restrictive about file access. The import dialog has 2 buttons:
1. The left SD-Card button opens the file chooser which is part of GPS Essentials. I assume this is the dialog that is causing the issue. The file chooser is deprecated and I will remove it in one of the next versions, it is there for backward compatibility purposes and it has a few number of unique features like creating new folders.
2.The (center) Cloud button opens a system dialog to select files. It supports both local files and various cloud providers. This is the preferred way to import files into GPS Essentials now and should be used whenever possible.
Enjoy,
Michael
